At your appointment, we will determine which items will
be accepted on consignment. You will be assigned a contract
number with Grand Central, and given a receipt at the
end of your appointment that lists the number of items
you brought in. An itemized listing of all items on
your contract will be emailed or mailed to you. All
items usually get on the sales floor the day they are
brought in.
Your consignment contract is valid for a three month
period. The first month of the contract, items are at
“full” price, and that price is determined
by Grand Central. If the item does not sell in the first
month, it is reduced by 25% for the second month, and
will be further reduced to 50% of the original price
in the third and final month. You will receive a computerized
contract which will describe each item in detail, and
shows the selling price for each item during the three
months. You will receive 40% of the selling price, whether
the items sell in the first, second or third month.
Jewelry items are not marked down, but stay at one price
for the duration of the contract. We check each contract
at the end of the first and at the end of the second
month, and if there is a balance owing to you of $200.00
or more, a cheque will be sent out. Amounts less that
$200 will be held over until the next month or the end
of the contract. At any time during the three months
of the contract, you may use any money “on account”
to make a purchase at Grand Central.
At the end of the three month period, any unsold items
are removed from the sales floor, and packaged for pick
up. You will be contacted and advised what items did
not sell, and what amount is owing to you. If all items
sell before the end of the three months, a cheque is
sent as soon as all items have been sold. Once you have
been notified that the contract period is now finished,
you have two weeks to let us know if you would like
to pick up any unsold items, or if you wish them to
be donated to one of our charities on your behalf. If
we do not have any response from you within two weeks,
the items that were not picked up become the property
of Grand Central Consignment to dispose of or donate
at our discretion.
